The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has achieved a top-three ranking among federal agencies in the 2026 Public Service Reforms Performance Assessment, an initiative managed by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR). The agency followed the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council in the final standings.
This ranking evaluated departments based on metrics including fiscal integrity, Freedom of Information compliance, and the effectiveness of their official websites. Engr. Abraham Oshadami, representing NCC head Dr. Aminu Maida, accepted the honor in Abuja. He noted that this recognition validates the commission’s recent drive toward greater sector transparency and accountability.
Recent reforms implemented by the NCC include the launch of a National Coverage Map and the regular release of network performance reports. Furthermore, the commission has mandated that mobile operators simplify tariff disclosures and adhere to stricter corporate governance protocols. These initiatives are designed to improve service quality and foster public trust in the telecommunications sector.
BPSR Director-General Dasuki Arabi praised the award winners for their dedication to open governance and standard public service values. The ceremony also honored 20 individuals, such as Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack and Mrs. Adejoke Adefulire, for their contributions to public leadership. This annual event, which corresponds with the United Nations Public Service Day, aims to encourage federal entities to maintain high standards of service delivery.
