The Osun State Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has formally opposed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) plan to utilize uncustomized ballot papers and result sheets for the governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. Representing the state’s registered political parties, the council argues that such materials jeopardize the transparency of the electoral process.
Odesola Oluseye Titus, chairman of the council’s caretaker committee, stated that this stance aligns with a July 22, 2026, judicial ruling involving the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He insisted that INEC must follow this verdict and provide materials that meet all legal specifications. The council emphasized that using non-customized documents is unacceptable and undermines the integrity of the vote.
Furthermore, Titus requested that INEC address the unauthorized presence of Pauline Ugoyenka, the Ebonyi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, in Osogbo. The council believes she should not be involved in the Osun election and has called on the INEC Chairman to investigate her activities. As the election approaches, the council remains committed to overseeing the process to ensure fairness.
In a related development, the distribution of sensitive electoral materials, originally slated for Thursday, was delayed. Musa Olurode, the Osun INEC spokesperson, confirmed the postponement was necessary due to the recent inclusion of SDP candidates, noting that a new distribution schedule will be shared later.
