The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has officially kicked off its push for the 2027 general elections. The party announced Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as its presidential nominee, paired with former DSS Director-General Alhaji Lawal Daura as his running mate.
This announcement occurred during the party’s National Elective Convention in Bauchi, an event that also saw the formal induction of Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed as the party’s National Leader.
During the event, Governor Makinde emphasized the necessity for a genuine political alternative that delivers functional solutions to national issues. He stated that the upcoming election cycle must prioritize advancements in agriculture, job generation, public health, and economic expansion for the youth. Furthermore, he encouraged citizens to evaluate candidates on their track record of enhancing security and individual well-being while advocating for the devolution of powers to the states.
Senator Mohammed expressed his commitment to building the APM into an expansive, grassroots-oriented organization. He lauded the Makinde-Daura pairing as a blend of governance experience and security intelligence suited to handle national crises. Meanwhile, the newly elected APM National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, stressed that the party aims to secure victory in 2027 rather than simply contesting the polls, focusing on resolving Nigeria’s core developmental hurdles.
