Turkey: Osimhen Reacts After Winning Cup With Galatasaray, Breaking Record
Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has expressed delight after setting a club record and winning the Turkish Cup on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old scored twice as Galatasaray secured a 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor in the final.
With his brace, Osimhen’s season tally rose to 35 goals, surpassing the previous club record of 34 goals set by former striker Mario Jardel.
Following the match, the Nigerian striker praised his teammates for their support and gave special recognition to Yunus Akgun for his performance during the game.
“I think the record is of course a great thing, but I would like to thank my team-mates very much. Especially today, Yunus [Akgun] was very unifying,” Osimhen told Galatasaray’s website.
“Goals make me happy, of course, but I want to reciprocate the support my team-mates have given me since I came here with goals.
“I’m very happy to score goals, but it’s a separate pleasure for me to go down in the history of this great club,” he stated.
Galatasaray is set to face Kayserispor in their upcoming match on Sunday.
