A young boy nicknamed “Mickey Mouse” due to a rare skin condition has undergone a remarkable transformation.
Three-year-old Qibao was born with large dark moles covering his scalp, caused by congenital naevus—a rare overgrowth of pigment cells.

Doctors planned a treatment to remove the moles, which required stretching his scalp skin to cover the gaps left after removal. Pre-op videos showed balloon-like skin growths on both sides of his head, which led to the cruel nickname.

His mother shared how local children mocked him, but said,
“We wiped away our tears and moved forward.”
Five months later, surgeons declared the treatment a success after removing the moles and excess skin. Post-op videos show Qibao happily playing in the hospital nursery, inspiring many across China with his bravery.

One wrote on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok: “This boy is so brave and so is his mum. I cried watching this.”
Another said: “I used to get teased too for how I looked. This really hit me.” A third said: “He looks so happy now. This is the power of medicine and love.”
