Governor Fubara Overhauls Rivers State Cabinet
In a significant administrative move, the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially disbanded the State Executive Council and terminated the appointments of all Special Advisers.
This sweeping change was communicated through a formal government notice released in Port Harcourt on Thursday, February 12.
As part of this restructuring, the Governor has overhauled his communications team, naming Onwuka Nzeshi as the new Chief Press Secretary. He replaces Nelson Chukwudi, who was dismissed from the role without an official explanation provided for his exit.
To ensure the continuity of government operations, Governor Fubara instructed all outgoing commissioners and advisers to immediately transfer their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretaries or the highest-ranking career officers within their respective ministries.
In the official statement, the Governor extended his gratitude to the departing cabinet members for their service and offered well-wishes for their upcoming professional pursuits.
Looking ahead, the Governor is anticipated to present a fresh roster of commissioner candidates to the House of Assembly, currently headed by Martin Amaewhule, for the standard screening and confirmation process.
