Former New Jersey Educator Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Sexual Assault of Students
A former English teacher at Wall Township High School has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison following her conviction for sexually assaulting two of her students.
Julie Rizzitello, 37, admitted to multiple counts of second-degree sexual assault last year, concluding a case that revealed a calculated pattern of grooming and exploitation.
The court proceedings detailed a disturbing history of abuse spanning several years. Rizzitello began targeting her first victim when he was a high school freshman in 2017, maintaining an illicit relationship with him through 2018.

During the sentencing, it was revealed that she had encouraged the teenager to engage in unprotected sex, which led to a pregnancy she later terminated. Judge Jill Grace O’Malley emphasized the “psychological devastation” this caused the young man, who eventually dropped out of college as he struggled to cope with the trauma of the abuse and the subsequent abortion.
A second victim was targeted more recently, between April and June 2024. Investigators discovered that Rizzitello utilized various locations for these encounters, including her residence, her vehicle, and even a local bagel shop owned by her family where the students were employed at her suggestion.
Following her resignation and subsequent arrest in July 2024, she reportedly attempted to obstruct justice by instructing the victims to delete incriminating evidence from their mobile devices.
The sentencing was marked by a stern rebuke from both the prosecution and the bench. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago described her actions as a “textbook case of grooming,” noting that she systematically leveraged her position of trust to manipulate and isolate vulnerable young minds.

Judge O’Malley dismissed any notion of the crimes being a lapse in judgment, categorizing Rizzitello’s behavior as that of a “standard sexual predator.”
In addition to her 10-year prison term, Rizzitello has been ordered to forfeit her teaching credentials permanently. Upon her release, she will face lifetime parole supervision and is required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
