Trump Threatens to Prosecute Election Officials if Elected President
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened prosecution and “long-term prison sentences” for election officials and political operatives he claims might cheat in the 2024 election if he wins the presidency again.
He accused Democrats of engaging in fraudulent behavior in the 2020 election and stated that he, along with attorneys and legal scholars, is closely monitoring the 2024 election.
“WHEN I WIN,” Trump wrote in a post on his social network, Truth Social, and X, “those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law.”
These threats come as early voting is about to start in several states and follow his previous threats to use the justice system against political opponents since his first indictment in the Manhattan hush money case.
Trump added, “I know, better than most, the rampant Cheating and Skullduggery that has taken place by the Democrats in the 2020 Presidential Election. It was a disgrace to our nation!”
“WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law, which will include long-term prison sentences so that this Depravity of Justice does not happen again,” he wrote. “Please beware that this legal exposure extends to Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials. Those involved in unscrupulous behaviour will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country,” he added.
Trump still faces charges related to election interference from his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results, including a four-count federal indictment. Additionally, a separate election interference case against him in Fulton County, Georgia, has been indefinitely paused.
