Troops Foil Kidnap Ransom Exchange, Rescue Two Victims In Kogi State
In a decisive strike against rising criminal activity, troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Oguma, have rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered ₦3.8 million ransom money intended for their release.
According to a statement from the Defence Headquarters, the successful operation took place on November 2, following credible intelligence about ongoing kidnapping activities along the Itobe–Adumu–Ejule axis and reports that relatives were preparing to deliver ransom payments to the abductors.

Acting swiftly, troops launched a tactical patrol to Achigili Forest, where they encountered heavy gunfire from the kidnappers. The soldiers responded with superior firepower, overwhelming the assailants and forcing them to abandon the hostages and the ransom before fleeing with gunshot wounds.

The troops recovered ₦3,800,000, the ransom sum and safely evacuated the rescued victims. Both individuals have since been debriefed to aid further military operations, while the recovered cash was returned to them. They are currently in safe custody, awaiting handover to relevant authorities.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the nation. The statement urged citizens to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and accurate information that could help combat criminal elements within Kogi State and beyond.
