Transfer Roundup: Newcastle Close in on Trafford, Leverkusen Snap Up Tillman, United Secure Rising Star
Newcastle United are nearing the completion of a deal for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. In a series of updates on Monday via X, Romano reported that final details are being ironed out, with the Magpies pushing to finalize the transfer imminently. A “here we go” is expected soon as full agreement nears.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen have reached a verbal agreement for Malik Tillman, the U.S. international. The deal, valued at €35–40 million, includes a long-term contract for Tillman and a buy-back clause in favour of Bayern Munich. Leverkusen now view the transfer as essentially done.
On the youth development front, Manchester United have secured one of their brightest academy talents, Jayden Ngwashi. The 16-year-old defender has signed a new four-year deal, opting to stay at Old Trafford despite interest from several top clubs across Europe.
In North London, Thomas Partey has officially left Arsenal following the expiry of his contract—a move that had been in the works for the past 10 days. To bolster their midfield, the Gunners are now closing in on a deal to bring Christian Nørgaard from Brentford.
Over in Turkey, Fenerbahçe are inching closer to landing Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán. Talks reportedly progressed over the weekend, with the move now “very close,” ending speculation of a switch to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
On the topic of Al Nassr, change is also brewing off the pitch. Jorge Jesus is set to become the club’s new head coach, with a broader structural overhaul expected to follow. Romano described the upcoming changes as the beginning of an “Al Nassr revolution.”
