NELFUND Warns Students of Fake Loan Portal, Urges Caution Online
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a public warning to students and guardians regarding a fraudulent online portal currently being circulated with false claims about the reopening of the student loan application platform.
In a statement released Monday in Abuja, the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, described the messages accompanying the fake link as misleading and deceptive.
“The attention of NELFUND has been drawn to a fake message claiming President Bola Tinubu has directed the reopening of the student loan portal,” she said. “The fraudulent link being shared — https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/ — is entirely false.”
She emphasized that the only legitimate website for the student loan application is https://nelf.gov.ng.
Oluwatuyi advised students, parents, and the general public to be wary of unverified web links and to avoid submitting sensitive personal or financial information on suspicious sites.
She reaffirmed NELFUND’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and security in handling loan applications, and urged students to follow updates only from verified channels.
Suspicious websites or messages should be reported immediately via email to info@nelf.gov.ng, or through the Fund’s official social media handles:
