Sean “Diddy” Combs’ high-stakes federal trial is entering its decisive phase, with closing arguments set to begin on Thursday, June 26. After weeks of explosive testimony, both prosecution and defense teams are ready to deliver their final appeals to the jury in what’s expected to be an hours-long courtroom showdown.

The 55-year-old music mogul faces a web of serious federal charges, including racketeering, sex trafficking, bribery, forced labor, arson, and witness tampering allegations that span decades. Prosecutors accuse Combs of operating a secret criminal enterprise under the veneer of stardom and success, aided by a network of trusted associates.

At the center of the case are two sex trafficking charges and two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution. According to prosecutors, Combs manipulated and abused two women one identified as singer Cassie Ventura and the other as “Jane” forcing them into drug-laced sexual encounters with escorts under coercion and control.

If convicted of racketeering alone, Combs could face life in prison.

Combs’ legal team has denied all charges, insisting the relationships were consensual and arguing that the prosecution’s witnesses were driven by greed, jealousy, or personal grudges. They attempted to dismantle the credibility of the 30+ individuals who testified, including former aides, sex workers, relatives, law enforcement, and a forensic psychologist.

Among the most damning testimonies was from a hotel security guard who claimed he was paid $100,000 in hush money. Prosecutors bolstered their case with thousands of pages of digital records, phone logs, text exchanges, payment receipts, hotel and flight bookings and surveillance videos allegedly capturing incriminating behavior.

The defense countered with excerpts of those same messages, framing them as proof of affectionate, voluntary relationships. Notably, Combs chose not to testify—a strategic move to avoid cross-examination, consistent with criminal defense norms.

Since the trial’s start in early May, it has drawn intense public scrutiny. Spectators, influencers, and media personalities gather daily outside the Manhattan federal courthouse, even as electronics remain banned inside. Combs, currently in custody, has avoided public appearances, but high-profile witnesses including Kid Cudi, who claimed Combs’ team torched his car have added to the spectacle.

Closing arguments will likely wrap up Friday. While a Friday deliberation start remains possible, court officials suggest jurors will more likely receive the case Monday. Then, the world will watch as 12 jurors decide the fate of a man who once reigned over pop culture and who now faces a possible lifetime behind bars.
