The family of 14-year-old Ezekiel Olapade has formally requested that Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu initiate an urgent investigation and arrest eight suspects linked to the fatal shooting of their son in Ilobu, Osun State. Filed on June 23, 2026, the legal petition was submitted by Law Corridor on behalf of the bereaved relatives regarding the incident that occurred on June 21 in the Irepodun Local Government Area.
The petition identifies the primary suspect as Kareem Saheed, known as Tanfeani. Other individuals named in the document include Ganiyu Habeeb Olaide, Alani Odedowo, Yekini Ismaila, Afeez Abass, Adejumo Habeeb, Afeez Yekini, and Oyeladun Muideen. These individuals were reportedly seen opening fire near the local government secretariat, where a stray bullet struck Ezekiel while he was at his mother’s business premises. Witnesses claim the assailants targeted a man wearing specific political party colors before indiscriminately discharging their weapons.
Legal representatives for the family noted that community members and witnesses have already provided photographs and relevant evidence to assist the Nigeria Police Force. The petition stresses that the family is suffering profound grief and warns that any hesitation in making arrests could compromise evidence or put witnesses in danger. While the Osun State Police Command confirmed the teenager’s death and noted that another person was injured, the primary suspects currently remain at large. The family is calling for a thorough, professional inquiry to ensure justice is served.
