Law enforcement in Osun State has taken 10 individuals into custody for their suspected roles in violent activities occurring within the Modakeke area and an unauthorized entry into the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. Four people were captured in Modakeke facing accusations of conspiracy, attempted murder, assault, and illegal weapon possession.
Authorities apprehended Olufemi Olatunji, Ajayi Idowu, Akingbala Oluwakemi, and Adekunle Basirat during a 2:00 a.m. operation on August 9, 2026, sparked by a formal complaint to the police chief. DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the force’s spokesperson, confirmed that searches of their properties yielded a pump-action rifle and a homemade cut-to-size gun. These items were discovered in the home of Oluwakemi and the storefront owned by Basirat, who are the spouses of two local figures.
Separately, a specialized anti-violence unit detained six people accused of raiding the Osun State Polytechnic in Iree. That disturbance resulted in injuries to two students. The detainees are Ajoba Akorede, Adam Oseni, Ogunrinde Ayomide, Ogunlana Muheez, Ajose Noah, and Adeniyi Damola. While Akorede and Oseni admitted to being members of the Aye confraternity, officials have not yet confirmed if they are enrolled at the polytechnic. The police are continuing their investigation and plan to press charges once the legal inquiries conclude.
