Adeyemi Samuel Olumode, the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, is calling on affluent Nigerians and corporate entities to fund the creation of fire stations nationwide. During the National Stakeholders’ Summit on Fire Safety held in Abuja, Olumode emphasized that maintaining fire safety is a collective duty rather than just a government task.
Addressing the theme of creating a modern, resilient fire service, the Controller General noted that improved station placement is essential for faster emergency response times. He pointed to successful community-led stations in areas like Offa, Oyo, Idanre, Bonny Island, and Kugbo as proof of the impact private investment can have on local security.
Olumode framed these contributions as vital investments for the preservation of lives and infrastructure. The summit also served as a milestone for Olumode, marking his first year in office since beginning his tenure on August 14, 2025.
