Ebonyi Police Prosecute Three Individuals Over Market Mob Assault

Three individuals have been arraigned by Ebonyi State police for their alleged involvement in a mob attack on a woman at the Abakaliki International Market.

Law enforcement authorities in Ebonyi State have officially charged three individuals for their suspected participation in a violent mob attack against a woman at the Abakaliki International Market. The defendants, Nwokedi Charles, Ekwunife Chidubem, and Okapala Chiamaka, appeared in court after police finalized their inquiry into the event.

SP Joshua Ukandu, the police spokesperson, noted that the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, CP Hope Urunwa-Okafor, previously denounced the assault and mandated a comprehensive, objective investigation. Following this directive, the suspects were processed for arraignment.

The State Command emphasized its strict opposition to mob justice, advising citizens to contact law enforcement regarding criminal suspicions rather than taking the law into their own hands. Officials further cautioned that any person participating in vigilante attacks will face immediate arrest and legal consequences.
