Nigerian actress Grace Bassey, formerly known as Belinda Effah, has officially joined the United States Navy.

Bassey made the career shift after successfully completing U.S. Navy boot camp, a milestone that also earned her American citizenship.

In an emotional Instagram post, she reflected on her journey:

“First, All Glory To God.

Last week, I graduated from U.S. Navy boot camp as a Sailor and took the oath as a citizen of the United States.

This journey wasn’t easy — but I carried my roots, my faith, and my vision every step of the way.

Nigeria raised me. America challenged me. I stand today stronger and more determined than ever.

Thank you to everyone who believed in me. This is just the beginning.

In Honor of my Late Father – Naval CDR Asido Bassey Effah”

Sharing photos and a video from her new chapter, she dedicated the achievement to her late father, Naval Commander Asido Bassey Effah.

The 35-year-old actress began her Nollywood career in the 2005 TV series Shallow Waters. She later changed her name from Belinda Effah to Grace-Charis Bassey following a spiritual transformation.
