Military forces eliminate five insurgents and liberate 11 captives in Zamfara

Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops killed five terrorists and saved 11 hostages after a tactical engagement in Zamfara State.

Soldiers participating in Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully neutralized five suspected terrorists and secured the release of 11 kidnapped individuals following a skirmish on the Gambada–Gummi–Sokoto road in Zamfara State. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident, which occurred during an offensive patrol at 4:30 p.m. on July 22.

A intense firefight erupted as troops confronted the militants. While five suspects were killed, others escaped into the nearby wilderness while under fire from the military. In their haste, the remaining attackers left behind their captives and a motorcycle, which were subsequently recovered by the soldiers.

The freed victims were immediately escorted to a secure location to receive medical evaluations and provide statements. Military units are maintaining an active presence in the area to track the retreating fighters and ensure they do not reorganize.
