LeBron and Bronny James Make History as First Father-Son Duo to Play on the Same Court
The James family has made NBA history, with LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, taking the court together for the first time in an official NBA game during the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The historic moment unfolded in the second quarter when both LeBron, entering his 22nd NBA season, and Bronny, the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, checked into the game with four minutes left.
The Lakers were leading by 16 points at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles, where a sellout crowd witnessed this landmark event.
Among the excited fans were the legendary father-son baseball duo, Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr., who were thrilled to see the Jameses make history.
Savannah James, LeBron’s wife and Bronny’s mother, was also present, proudly watching as her husband and 20-year-old son shared the court.
LeBron has openly shared his dream of playing alongside his son in the NBA, describing it as a “dream come true.” That dream was realized last night as the father-and-son duo made their official debut together.
While they had previously played together in a preseason game on October 6, this regular-season game cements their place in NBA history.
Bronny, who shined with 17 points in an exhibition game against the Warriors earlier this month, hopes this will be the first of many appearances alongside his father in the league.
As the James family continues to break barriers, this could signal the start of a memorable chapter for both LeBron and Bronny.
