A unified team consisting of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force, and the Police is currently battling more than 100 suspected bandits near the border connecting Zamfara and Kebbi states.
This mission involves the 3rd Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion, part of the 8th Division, working alongside the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma and Mobile Police units. Intelligence assets spotted the group, which was traveling on motorcycles in three distinct formations from Sangeko Gap in Zamfara toward Makuku in Kebbi.
The movement has alarmed local residents, some of whom have fled their homes for safer territory. Security forces are using a combination of ground maneuvers and aerial support to block the bandits from reaching local communities and to stall their territorial expansion.
Authorities have urged citizens to stay alert and follow safety guidelines as the operation unfolds. This incident underscores the persistent dangers in Nigeria’s North-West region, where military and police units continue to fight criminal elements to stabilize the area.
