Eleven Boko Haram kin surrender to military forces in Borno

Eleven women and children connected to Boko Haram insurgents have surrendered to Nigerian military forces in Borno State following increased pressure on terrorist enclaves.

A group consisting of five women and six children linked to Boko Haram militants has turned themselves in to the Operation Hadin Kai military unit in Borno State. This update was provided by Zagazola Makama, a security analyst specializing in Lake Chad region affairs.

The incident occurred on June 24, 2026, at approximately 6:00pm within the Banki area of Bama. Reports indicate that one group of four women and four children arrived from Chongolo village and surrendered to the 152 Task Force Battalion. Simultaneously, a woman and two children from Ladantar approached the 151 Task Force Battalion at Banki Junction to give themselves up.

Military profiling confirmed that these individuals are family members of fighters who escaped their hideouts seeking security. After completing the initial documentation process, the group was transferred to an Internally Displaced Persons camp in Bama for rehabilitation. According to military officials, this event reflects a growing trend of defections driven by ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.
