Bauchi APC dismisses impact of high-profile defections to PRP

The APC in Bauchi State asserts that recent defections by prominent members to the PRP will not weaken the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the recent resignation of several members to join the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) will not undermine the party’s stability. This response follows the departure of Senator Shehu Buba Umar, who represents Bauchi South, along with key political figures such as Samaila Kaila Dahuwa, Rabilu Bala Kashuri, and Shehu Aliyu Musa.

State Publicity Secretary Shehu Dauda Mohammed emphasized that while individuals are free to choose their political affiliations, these exits do not signify a loss of influence. The party maintains that its internal structure remains robust, asserting that those who left had already ceased to align with the organization’s discipline and goals. According to the APC, the departures were expected and do not reflect any meaningful loss in their overall support base.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, the APC confirmed its operational strength across all 20 local government areas and 323 wards in Bauchi. The party’s primary objectives include securing a victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, capturing the state government, and winning legislative seats. Supporters have been urged to maintain unity and continue grassroots mobilization.
