Bandits Burn Seven Villages in Zamfara; Major Road Closed in Katsina Amid Escalating Attacks

At least seven villages near Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, have been destroyed by bandits since Saturday.

This information was shared by security analyst Bakatsine on X on Sunday.

The affected villages include Bargaja, Makera, Kahuta, Hayin Mai Cibi, Yar Geba, Hayin Yakubu, and Unguwar Mata.

He wrote: “Since Saturday, bandits have burnt seven villages near Gusau, Zamfara: Bargaja, Makera, Kahuta, Hayin Mai Cibi, Yar Geba, Hayin Yakubu and Unguwar Mata.”

He also reported new attacks on Sunday evening near Mada village, located in Gusau Local Government Area.

In a related update, a major road in neighboring Katsina State has been closed due to increasing bandit attacks.

The affected route stretches from Mararrabar Maigora through Maigora, Sabon Layi Galadima, Fankama, and Faskari to Ƴankara.

Bakatsine added that on Saturday alone, four people were shot and several others were abducted along this route.

“The road from Mararrabar Maigora through Maigora, Sabon Layi Galadima, Fankama & Faskari to Ƴankara has been shut due to rising bandit attacks. Yesterday alone, they shot 4 people, and abducted several others,” he wrote.

Authorities had not yet issued an official statement regarding the incidents at the time this report was filed.
