Why England Suffered A 3‑1 Defeat To Senegal – Harry Kane

England captain Harry Kane has suggested that their 3-1 defeat to Senegal in Tuesday’s international friendly was due to the team’s overall poor performance.

Speaking after the match at City Ground, the Bayern Munich striker admitted that things weren’t working for the Three Lions both in possession and off the ball.

Kane had opened the scoring in the seventh minute, but goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diarra, and Cheikh Sabaly saw Senegal come from behind to secure the win.

The result marked England’s first-ever defeat against an African opponent in international football.

“Not good enough. We had moments, but with and without the ball things aren’t clicking, we’re not finding the right tempo,” Kane said at his post-match interview.

“We have lost that aggressive nature that we had.”

Kane also emphasized that England must improve quickly if they hope to compete effectively at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following their latest setback.
