Wealth of World’s Ten Richest People Soars by $64 Billion in Just One Day After Trump’s Election Victory
The combined wealth of the world’s ten richest individuals surged by $64 billion in a single day following Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election, according to a major wealth index.
This increase marks the largest single-day rise in the history of The Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which has been tracking the fortunes of the world’s wealthiest since 2012 and is largely dominated by U.S. tech billionaires.
Elon Musk, the richest person globally, saw the most significant boost, adding $26.5 billion to his net worth, which now totals $290 billion.
Musk, a prominent Trump supporter who has campaigned alongside the Republican in recent weeks, benefitted from a surge in Tesla’s stock price.
Jeff Bezos, the world’s second-richest person, saw his wealth increase by $7 billion, bringing his total fortune to $228 billion.
Meanwhile, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth remained largely unchanged at $202 billion.
The only other member of the top 10 to experience a decline was French luxury goods magnate Bernard Arnault, whose fortune dropped by nearly $3 billion.
World-renowned investor Warren Buffett added $7.5 billion to his fortune, bringing it to nearly $150 billion.
Long-time Republican supporter Larry Ellison, the chairman of software company Oracle, saw his wealth rise by nearly $10 billion, reaching $193 billion.
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer also saw substantial gains in their fortunes, according to the estimates.
Meanwhile, Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin each saw their wealth increase by more than $5 billion.
