US Cruise Ship Offers 4-Year Journey for Americans Looking to Skip Trump’s Second Term
A Florida-based cruise company, Villa Vie Residences, has introduced a unique program called “Tour La Vie,” offering Americans the chance to avoid President-elect Donald Trump’s second term by spending up to four years visiting over 140 countries.
The program allows passengers to travel the world on a cruise, bypassing the United States for an extended period.
The Tour La Vie trip offers a variety of extended stays aboard the Villa Vie Odyssey, including a one-year “Escape from Reality” cruise, a two-year “Mid-Term Selection” cruise, a three-Year “Everywhere but Home” option, and the four-year “Skip Forward” trip.
“We came up with this marketing campaign before we even knew who would win. Regardless of who would have won, you would have half of the population upset,” CEO Mikael Petterson said. “Quite frankly, we don’t have a political view one way or the other. We just wanted to give people who feel threatened to have a way to get out.”
The “Tour La Vie” program offers a luxurious and extended escape, with prices starting just under $40,000 per year.
For those seeking a more exclusive experience, single-occupancy cabins for the entire four-year journey are priced at $256,000, while double-occupancy cabins cost up to $320,000.
The price includes all meals, drinks, Wi-Fi, and medical visits, along with weekly housekeeping and bi-weekly laundry service at no extra charge. Alcohol is included during dinner but not throughout the day.
The cruise itinerary features a month-long stay in the Caribbean, followed by a four-month tour of South America, including two transits of the Panama Canal, visits to two of the World Wonders, exploration of the Chilean Fjords, a sail-by of Antarctica, participation in Rio’s Carnival, and an eight-day trip along the Amazon River.
According to Petterson, Villa Vie Residences has seen a “huge uptick” in inquiries since announcing the cruise on November 7.
For American passengers onboard during the 2026 midterm elections and the 2028 presidential election, the cruise company has made arrangements for them to cast their votes.
Travelers can submit mail-in ballots to the cruise line’s corporate office, which will then forward them to the ship, ensuring they can participate in the elections despite being at sea.
“They didn’t want to talk to one another,” he told the outlet. “They wanted to stay away from one another. At the end of the day everyone there isn’t there to talk politics. They actually have similar lifestyles. There wasn’t any sort of issues or anything.”
