UNILORIN Partners with Chinese University for Academic Collaboration
The University of Ilorin has partnered with North-China University of Water Resources and Electric Power in Zhengzhou, China.
According to UNILORIN’s official bulletin, the agreement was formalized on September 5, 2024, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at establishing academic linkages and fostering collaboration between the institutions.
The initiative seeks to enhance academic cooperation in education, research, and cultural exchange.
The MoU was signed by Professor Wahab Egbewole, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, and his counterpart from North-China University during the First Exchange Mechanism Conference of the China-Africa Consortium of Universities and the China-Africa Higher Education Dialogue.
The conference, co-hosted by the China Association of Higher Education and the Association of African Universities, was held at the Beijing International Conference Centre in Beijing, China, from September 5 to 7, 2024.
The University of Ilorin is among 100 African universities chosen for a program aimed at strengthening educational ties and enhancing knowledge exchange with Chinese universities.
This collaboration will involve joint research projects, student and staff exchanges, and other academic activities benefiting both institutions.
At the MoU signing ceremony, Vice Chancellor Professor Wahab Egbewole expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting the significance of cross-cultural academic exchange in a globalized world.
He emphasized the potential for leveraging both institutions’ strengths in research and education to address global challenges, particularly in water resources and electric power. Egbewole committed to upholding and respecting the partnership in every honorable manner.
