Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has claimed that Vladimir Putin “will die soon”, amid unconfirmed reports that the Russian leader is battling poor health.

Zelensky made this statement during an interview with journalists in Paris after his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

He said: ‘He (Putin) will d!e soon, and that’s a fact, and it will come to an end.’

Putin has long faced rumors of serious health issues, with speculation fueled by his puffy face, twitching leg, and bloodshot eyes in recent years.

A particularly notable incident in 2022 saw the 72-year-old Russian president slouching in his chair, gripping a table, and slurring his words during a meeting with then-Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

There have been claims that Putin may have cancer or Parkinson’s disease, with reports of him coughing persistently and exhibiting involuntary jerky movements in his hands and feet.

During his interview in Paris, Zelensky also accused Putin of trying to “hit the European Union from within”, pointing to Russia-friendly members of the bloc, such as Hungary.
