Tinubu Approves Use Of NIN Authentication Across MDAs
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given approval for the implementation of National Identity Number (NIN) Authentication across all federal government ministries, departments, and agencies.
This move is part of the Nigerian government’s initiative to launch the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) NIN Authentication system, aimed at providing secure and efficient identity verification.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by NIMC spokesperson Dr. Kayode Adegoke, who explained that the NINAuth is an advanced suite of services that offers web, API, and mobile verification options.
This system is designed to enhance data security, protect privacy, and streamline citizens’ and legal residents’ access to government services by verifying their identities seamlessly.
“The NIMC NINAuth application is the official service for integration with the commission’s backend infrastructure. It introduces a robust layer of protection, empowering individuals with greater control over their personal information.
“By requiring explicit consent before data is shared for Know Your Customer (KYC) processes or other verifications, the platform fosters trust, transparency, and user autonomy in digital identity management,” the statement partly reads.
