Three Farmers Killed In Fresh Attack On Benue Farmlands

Tension deepened in Benue State on Thursday after armed attackers, suspected to be herdsmen, invaded farmlands in Naka, Gwer West Local Government Area, leaving three farmers dead in a fresh wave of violence. The victims identified as Mr. Ioryer Kwaghkaha OLS, Ayila Atsar, and another yet-to-be-identified farmer were reportedly shot and later brutally attacked while working on their farms in Gilim Ashi village, a settlement along the Naka–Agagbe road.

Their bodies have since been recovered and deposited at the morgue in Naka.

This tragedy unfolds barely a day after another killing on the Naka–Makurdi road near Kula village, where a traveler was ambushed and murdered, further heightening fears among residents.

The community remains on edge as concerns grow over escalating attacks on farmers, continued insecurity along major routes, and the widening vulnerability of rural settlements in the state.
