The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has sought the assistance of the public in finding the parents of three siblings found by a Nigerian.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Timfon John, who made the appeal in a statement in Uyo on Wednesday, May 8, noted that the kids named Daniel Akan, Matthew Akan and Japhter Akan, between the ages of three and six, were found along Oron road in Ibiaku Ishiet on April 30, 2024.

She explained that the boys have been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Family Unit.

She urged anyone with useful information about their parent(s) or relatives to contact the Police Public Relations Officer via 0916 983 9213, 0903 243 5667 or visit any nearest police station.

The statement reads: “The command wishes to announce to the general public that three siblings, all of same parents namely, Daniel Akan, 6, Matthew Akan Christian, 5, and Japther Akan Christian, 3, all of Ikot Akpa Efor Uruan, were found by a concerned Nigerian on April 30, 2024.

“The children were found along old Oron Road in Ibiaku Ishiet and were taken to Dakada Division of the Police Command. Efforts to locate the parents or relatives of the boys by Police operatives in Dakada Division have so far proved abortive.

“In a quest to locate relatives or guardians of the boys, they were taken to Ibesikpo Asutan Division, and thereafter transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Family Unit.

“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command under the leadership of CP Waheed Ayilara is committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property of Akwa Ibomites.”
