Suspected Terrorists Kidnap Pastor’s Family in Borno State

Gunmen believed to be insurgents kidnapped the wife and three children of a COCIN pastor near Kareto village while they were traveling to Damasak in Borno State.

Suspected Boko Haram or ISWAP fighters have seized the wife and three children of Pastor Moses G. Guguma of the COCIN Church in Damasak, the administrative center of Mobbar Local Government Area in Borno State. The abduction took place on Saturday afternoon as the family traveled toward Damasak, a town situated roughly 156 kilometers from Maiduguri.

According to local reports, the pastor’s wife had recently been discharged from a Maiduguri hospital following a long illness. The family was heading home when militants intercepted their public transport near Kareto village. The attackers singled out the woman and her three children, forcing them off the vehicle while allowing the driver and other passengers to continue.

The current location of the victims is still unknown. Residents familiar with the situation suggest the family was targeted because of their religious background, and they have requested public prayers for the captives’ safe return.
