Soldiers participating in Operation Hadin Kai successfully prevented a terrorist breach along the Gujba–Buni Yadi road in Yobe State. A firefight ensued, causing approximately 30 suspected insurgents to escape.
Security insiders informed Zagazola Makama that the military acted on intelligence at 2:30 pm on August 4 regarding insurgent movement on the highway. Personnel from the 198 Special Forces Battalion and the 27 Task Force Brigade deployed to Mahadiya Bridge upon receiving reports of an incursion attempt.
The militants reportedly utilized swampy ground to bypass ongoing military activity near Buni Yadi Forest. After troops engaged the group, the attackers retreated. Subsequently, soldiers searched Gujba, Gidan Kaji, Kasatchiya, Mahadiya, the College of Agriculture, and Sabon Garin Mai Mala to clear the area. Surveillance remains active to prevent regrouping, as part of the broader Operation Desert Sanity V mission to neutralize threats in the North-East. Authorities describe the regional security status as calm but volatile, with forces remaining on high alert.
