AFCON 2023 player of the tournament and Super Eagles of Nigeria captain, William Troost-Ekong has won the Greek Super League title with PAOK Salonica.

PAOK claimed the title after a 2-1 away win over Aris on Sunday night, May 19. Ekong only made 10 appearances for the club this season.

The Whites and Black finished the season with 80 points from 36 matches two ahead of rivals AEK Athens.

It is the fourth time PAOK will be winning the title in their history.

Brandon Thomas gave the visitors the lead on the hour, while Loren Moron equalised for the home team two minutes after the break. Taison then scored the winning goal for PAOK two minutes after the hour mark.

Troost-Ekong was not included in the matchday squad by manager Razvan Lucescu as he recently returned to full training after undergoing surgery at the end of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in February.
