Super Eagles Aim for Victory, Not Revenge, Against Benin Republic – Coach Eguavoen
Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has emphasized that the team’s main goal is to secure maximum points in their upcoming match against Benin Republic.
The Cheetahs of Benin had previously defeated the Super Eagles 2-1 in a 2026 World Cup qualifier held in Abidjan in June.
The two teams are set to face off again in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, September 6.
Eguavoen clarified that the team’s focus is on winning the match, rather than seeking revenge for their previous loss to Benin.
“Starting with the match against Benin Republic on Saturday, nobody is mentioning anything about revenge,” Eguavoen stated.
“Our goal is three points, and then we aim for another three points in Kigali on Tuesday that will put us in good stead for qualification.”
