Southport Killer Sentenced: Axel Rudakubana, 18, Given Life In Prison for Murdering Three Girls at Taylor Swift Dance Class
Axel Rudakubana, the Southport murderer, will be sentenced to life today for the murders of three girls and the attempted murders of 10 others.
Rudakubana, 18, stabbed and k!lled the girls, aged between six and nine, with a 20cm-long kitchen knife as he ambushed a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, Merseyside.
Wearing a surgical face mask and armed with a blade, he traveled five miles from his family home to the studio where he launched the attack.
Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, tragically lost their lives. Eight other children, aged between seven and 13, were also injured by the knife, along with dance teacher Leanne Lucas, who was wounded while attempting to protect the children.
The teenager pleaded guilty to the murders of the three children and the attempted murders of eight others.
He also confessed to producing a biological toxin and possessing information that could aid someone in committing or preparing for an act of terrorism. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to possessing a knife.
One parent of a child who survived the attack called for him to face a whole-life tariff, saying: “Why should he be spared a whole-life tariff when he hasn’t spared a thought for any of the victims’ families? Life should mean life.”
The teenager, who was born in Cardiff to Christian parents who legally immigrated to Britain from Rwanda, was not an illegal immigrant.
Earlier this week, Sir Keir Starmer called for a public inquiry into the tragedy, stating that the state’s failings were “clear and obvious.”
He is scheduled to be sentenced for a total of 16 charges at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday morning.
