Security Operatives Arrest Bandit Linked to Ondo Traveller Abductions

A combined team of security operatives have apprehended one of the suspects in connection with the abduction of four travellers in Irun Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

 

The travellers were abducted around 6 pm on Saturday, May 25, 2024, while en route Irun through Imesi town, a close border community with Ekiti and Ondo states.

 

Adetunji Adeleye, the commander of the Amotekun Corps in the state, had confirmed the abduction of travellers, saying his men were on trial for the bandits.

 

The suspect was apprehended inside a forest where he was hiding.

 

A top security officer who confirmed the arrest to the Daily Trust said the suspect (name withheld) was immediately taken to the palace of Onirun of Irun Akoko.

 

“Thereafter, we took him down to the Police Area Commander’s office in Ikare Akoko for further interrogation,” he added.
