Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos, has clarified his approach for the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that his campaign strategy will not rely on the backing of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi or the broader Obidient movement.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Rhodes-Vivour explained that his confidence stems from extensive grassroots engagement. Addressing concerns about his campaign following Obi’s transition to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), he maintained that his political presence and local network have evolved significantly since the 2023 election cycle.
He noted that his personal growth and community involvement distinguish the current version of his candidacy from previous efforts. By actively supporting residents impacted by demolitions, he stated that he has successfully deepened his ties with local communities. Rhodes-Vivour also clarified that his relationship with Peter Obi remains positive, noting that his current focus is on building a diverse, broad-based coalition capable of addressing the specific political landscape of Lagos.
