Real Madrid Star Vinicius Jr Faces Two-Year Football Ban
Vinicius Jr, the superstar forward for Real Madrid, could reportedly face a two-year ban from football as FIFA investigates him for potentially creating a conflict of interest under its regulations.
FIFA is currently looking into the Brazilian player’s involvement in the ownership of several professional football clubs, which is believed to be in violation of international football rules.
The investigation stems from concerns that his club ownership may create conflicts with his playing career, as FIFA has strict guidelines regarding such dual roles.
Vinicius Jr has been a key player for Real Madrid, contributing 105 goals and 79 assists in 311 appearances for the club across various competitions.
However, his controversial behavior on the pitch has also attracted scrutiny, and this investigation by FIFA adds to the list of challenges surrounding the Brazilian’s career.
According to reports from MARCA, the potential two-year ban could significantly impact Vinicius’ playing career, pending the results of FIFA’s inquiry into the matter.
The issue involving Vinicius Jr stems from his association with his father’s company, ALL Agenciamento Esportivo, and the ownership stakes he holds in certain football clubs.
The complaint against Vinicius was filed by the Brazilian firm Tiberis Holding do Brasil with FIFA’s Ethics Committee on April 7. The complaint accuses him of violating FIFA’s ethics rules, which prohibit players from having direct or indirect ownership of professional football clubs.
Among the clubs Vinicius is reportedly linked to are the Brazilian side Athletic Club de São João del Rei and the Portuguese club Alverca. These investments are at the heart of the investigation, as they may violate FIFA’s Article 20, as well as Spain’s Article 22, which outline the rules on football ethics.
If Vinicius is found guilty of these violations, he could face a range of penalties, including being forced to sell his stakes in the clubs or potentially being banned from football for up to two years.
