Putin Would Breach Ukraine Deal If Not Defended – UK Prime Minister
Russian President Vladimir Putin would violate a peace deal with Ukraine if it is not properly enforced, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has warned after attending a high-level military meeting in London.
Speaking on Thursday night, March 20, following discussions with senior military leaders, Starmer emphasized that any agreement to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine would only be sustainable if backed by strong security measures.
His remarks came after a closed-door meeting at the Permanent Joint Headquarters in Northwood, London, where representatives from over 20 countries gathered to discuss potential troop deployments in Ukraine to help ensure its security as part of any peace settlement with Russia.
“It is vitally important we do that work because we know one thing for certain, which is a deal without anything behind it is something that Putin will breach.
“We know that because it happened before. I am absolutely clear in my mind it will happen again,” Starmer said.
