President Bola Tinubu has called upon the governors of the six North-East states to strengthen their collective response to terrorism and banditry. During a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with leaders from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe, Tinubu emphasized that national unity is essential to overcoming these security threats.
Addressing the state of the nation, the President noted that the economy is stabilizing, which he considers a critical objective for the welfare of citizens. He further highlighted infrastructure progress in the North-East, specifically citing the development of the Akwanga–Bauchi–Gombe–Biu–Maiduguri Superhighway. Additionally, Tinubu stated his administration is actively addressing outstanding pension liabilities left by previous governments.
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, leading the delegation, expressed gratitude to the President for confirming Vice-President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 election. Zulum commended the administration for its focus on road construction, support for displaced residents, and advancements in agriculture and education. He affirmed the region’s commitment to supporting the APC in the upcoming electoral cycle.
