Popular UK Rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly Arrested on Rape and Assault Charges
British rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in a hotel in Australia.
The artist, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, 29, was taken into custody in Brisbane on Tuesday and extradited to Perth on Wednesday.
He appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 9, facing three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and four counts of sexual penetration without consent.
The YouTube star is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s in his hotel room on September 28, following a performance at Bar1 Nightclub in Hillarys, Perth.
Mr. Barrientos, who is currently on tour in Australia, allegedly assaulted the woman after his show at Bar120 on September 27.
ABC Australia reports that he is being represented by Perth barrister Seamus Rafferty SC. His application for bail was opposed by police prosecutor Julius Depetro.
Photos of the woman’s injuries allegedly caused by Mr Barrientos were provided to the magistrate by the prosecution, who said: “No ordinary person can consent in these circumstances.
“Across her body is a history of violent acts… We say these photos and what is alleged is beyond the pale, beyond what could be considered to be a consensual act.”
Born in Cali, Colombia, Mr. Barrientos moved to the UK with his family as a child, initially settling in Orpington, Kent, before moving to south-east London, where he developed an interest in the local grime scene.
He rose to fame in 2017 by releasing songs online while simultaneously growing a significant fanbase on his YouTube channel, which has 1.4 million subscribers.
In recent years, he has hosted several shows, including Yung Filly’s Celeb Lock-in and Hot Property on the BBC, and he appeared on Channel 4’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off in 2022.
