The Katsina State Police Command has successfully thwarted three separate kidnapping attempts by suspected armed bandits in Danmusa and Faskari local government areas, rescuing eight victims unharmed.

Police Public Relations Officer ASP Abubakar Sadiq reported that these incidents took place on October 7, 2024.

The statement said, “At about 11 am, armed bandits intercepted two women on the outskirts of Matarau village in Danmusa LGA, attempting to abduct them.

“Similarly, on the same day, distress calls were received at Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters.

“At about 10:30 am, armed bandits blocked Marabar Bangori-Unguwar Boka along the Funtua-Gusau road and kidnapped four persons,”

Sadiq further disclosed that later in the day, “At about 2:30 pm, another group of bandits blocked the Unguwar Kafa junction along the Yankara-Faskari road, abducting two women and their children.

“Upon receiving the reports, police operatives swiftly mobilised to the scenes, engaging the assailants in gunfire. The bandits were forced to flee, leaving behind the kidnapped victims, who were all rescued unhurt.”

Sadiq noted that the attackers escaped with gunshot wounds.

The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their bravery and reiterated the command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents in the state.
