Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has bolstered security measures in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State in response to recent violent incidents. To oversee this strategic adjustment, AIG Dankombo Morris of Zone 4, Makurdi, has been ordered to station himself in Jos to manage local operations.
This move aligns with a nationwide mandate requiring high-ranking police officials to supervise efforts against criminal groups, including bandits and kidnappers, within their designated jurisdictions. Representing the Force, CSP Anietie Iniedu confirmed that AIG Morris traveled to the Akawel community to consult with local leaders and traditional authorities regarding the current security climate.
During his visit, Morris expressed the condolences of the police leadership to the victims’ families. He emphasized that the force is actively pursuing the perpetrators and has increased the number of officers and equipment on the ground to stabilize the region. While advocating for cooperation, he advised residents to reject retaliation and instead assist in maintaining order.
The AIG also met with Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the Da Jacob Gyang Buba to reinforce the police’s dedication to working with state and local institutions. The Nigeria Police Force remains focused on deep collaboration with stakeholders to ensure public safety throughout Plateau State.
