Soldiers from Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace, saved an injured farmer and captured 27 cows during two distinct operations in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. These actions followed reports of attacks by suspected violent herders.
Intelligence reports shared with Zagazola Makama indicate that the first incident occurred on August 3 at 4:05 pm. Military units based in Komtul responded to a distress call regarding an assault on Kopdi Istifanus at his field in Maraban Village. Upon arrival, the soldiers drove away the suspects and transported the wounded farmer to Miton Clinic in Pushit for emergency care.
At 6:57 pm the same evening, troops addressed a second alert concerning herders targeting farmers near the Bwor River. Upon reaching the location, soldiers encountered individuals wielding knives and forcing farmers to abandon their property. When the armed suspects attempted to strike the soldiers, the troops discharged two rounds of 7.62 x 39mm special ammunition to neutralize the threat. The attackers discarded their weapon and fled the scene.
The security team seized 27 head of cattle left behind by the suspects and secured the discarded knife. Military patrols remain active in the region to locate the perpetrators and ensure the ongoing safety of local agricultural workers.
