Police Arraign 40-Year-Old Man for Allegedly Assaulting Wife in Lagos

A 40-year-old man, Samson Ilawole, was arraigned before an Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on Thursday, February 20, for allegedly assaulting his wife.

Ilawole, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a charge of assault, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Adegeshin Famuyiwa, informed the court that the incident occurred on February 8 at No. 20, Babatunde Rabiu Street, off Ijede Road in Ikorodu. According to Famuyiwa, Ilawole physically attacked his wife, Helen, during an argument, causing serious head injuries.

The prosecution stated that the offence violated Section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate O.A. Ogbe granted Ilawole bail in the sum of N200,000, requiring two sureties in the same amount. One of the sureties must be a blood relative. The case was adjourned until February 27 for mention.
