Piers Morgan has labeled the Argentine national team a disgrace following their aggressive conduct during the 2026 World Cup final loss to Spain.

British television personality Piers Morgan has publicly condemned the Argentine squad for their poor sportsmanship during Sunday’s World Cup final. Argentina saw their dreams of back-to-back titles end after a 1-0 extra-time defeat to Spain.

As the match concluded, a heated altercation erupted on the pitch, centering on Leandro Paredes and Spanish midfielder Gavi. Paredes was observed shoving Eric Garcia before aggressively pushing Gavi to the ground. This confrontation triggered a larger skirmish involving players and staff from both benches.

Writing on X following the events at New York New Jersey Stadium, Morgan described the Argentine players as violent thugs and a disgrace to the sport. He expressed his pleasure at seeing them lose. Throughout the 2026 final, Argentina played a highly physical game, resulting in referee Slavko Vincic issuing seven yellow cards and one red card, all to the Argentine side. Enzo Fernandez was sent off in second-half stoppage time after receiving a second yellow card, forcing Argentina to finish the match with ten men.
