Pep Guardiola Wins EPL Manager Of The Season Award
Pep Guardiola has been named the 2023/24 Premier League Manager of the Season after leading a historic campaign with Manchester City.
Organisers of the Premier League, English football’s top flight, made the announcement on their website.
Guardiola led City to become the first side in history to win four consecutive Premier League titles.
This award makes it the fifth time he has won it. Other times include 2017/18, 2018/19, 2020/21 and 2022/23.
Only legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has received the award (11 times) more than the 53-year-old Spaniard.
Commenting after winning the award, Guardiola said he “will defend” his Manager of the Season award in 2024/25 but that he wants to share this season’s trophy with his fellow nominees who pushed City to be their best.
“I want to share it, yes, oh yes! Especially with Mikel [Arteta] for the incredible job he has done until the last game, bringing us to our limits,” said Guardiola.
“Of course, for Jurgen [Klopp], for the unforgettable battles for many, many years. And Unai Emery, making something unbelievable again to bring Aston Villa to the [UEFA] Champions League.
“And Andoni Iraola, with Bournemouth, being his first season in the Premier League, doing what he has done, coming back from the tough start of the season.
“It is an honour to be alongside all of them and to win this trophy. We will defend this award as best as possible in the future.”
