No fewer than 1,500 members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Young Progressives Party (YPP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State.

Rep. Aminu Jaji, the lawmaker representing the Birnin Magaji/Kaura Namoda Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, received the defectors on Monday.

The defectors included key leaders and supporters from the PDP, APGA, YPP, and other political parties within the state.

Jaji, represented by the State Chairman of the APC Jajiyyaa Group, Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya-Anka, described the defection of the party members as a positive development for the ruling party. He assured the defectors of fair treatment and a collaborative working relationship to strengthen the party’s presence in the state.

He expressed confidence that the quality of the defectors, especially the leaders from other political parties, would significantly enhance the strength of the Jajiyya movement.

Among the prominent defectors mentioned by Isiyaka were the former state APGA Chairman, Alhaji Rabi’u Salisu-Bature, along with hundreds of APGA supporters from various parts of the state. Additionally, the state YPP Chairman, Alhaji Sani Anka, and numerous YPP members from across the state also joined the APC.
