Pakistanis Arrested for Leading Kidnapping Gang in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two Pakistani nationals for allegedly leading a kidnapping gang in the state.
This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the state police command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin. He noted that the arrests followed a distress call received on Wednesday, March 5, about the abduction of a 48-year-old Pakistani man in Ikeja.
According to Hundeyin, an anti-crime patrol from the Ikeja Division was deployed, leading to the rescue of the victim and the arrest of two suspects, 19-year-old Roman Gull and 28-year-old Aftab Ahmad. Five other suspects, also Pakistani nationals, reportedly escaped.
He mentioned that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had lured the victim to Lagos from Kano under the pretext of offering him a job as a chef.
“The suspects booked the victim’s flight to Lagos and lodged him in a hotel on February 28, 2025. The following day, the seven suspects visited the victim, overpowered him, tied his hands and legs, and sent a message to his boss in Kano, demanding N50 million as ransom for his release or they would kill him.
The victim’s boss paid N1 million three days later to buy time and then alerted the police. The police subsequently recovered a grey Toyota Camry saloon car used by the suspects, the victim’s $2,000 cash, three ATM cards, a green card, driver’s licence, and NIN slip.”
Hundeyin added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice. He confirmed that the rescued victim was in good condition and had re-established contact with his family.
